Hannalie holds the degrees BLC and LLB from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She was admitted as an advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa as well as an advocate of the High Court of Namibia in 1994. She prosecuted in the High Court of Namibia as from 1994 until 1998. During 2004, she was appointed as a Notary Public.
She was a long-standing member of the Committee on Magistrates Court matters, as well as a member of the Rules Board. She is a previous member of a subcommittee of the Law Reform Commission involved in the drafting of the new Divorce Act and the new matrimonial property legislation for civil and customary marriages, a previous councillor of the Law Society of Namibia and a trustee of the Rule of Law Trust. Hannalie was also the chairperson of the standing Committee for Taxation, and a previous member of the Committee of Non-Legal Practitioner Matters as well as notarial matters of the Law Society. Hannalie currently acts as initiator in disciplinary hearings before the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society of Namibia.
Hannalie was also appointed as a court-accredited mediator who avails herself once a month, for the purposes of Alternative Dispute Resolution as provided for by the new High Court Rules. Hannalie also serves as Trustee on various Trusts and serves on the management committee of the Gymkana Club, which club is registered in terms of the Sports Act.
Hannalie is a partner of the firm and focuses on commercial law, family law and litigation in the High and the Supreme Court, and extensive debt recovery in both the High Court and Magistrate’s Court.
